MATT DONOHUE

Head Coach

NameThe Catholic women's basketball program leader in wins, Donohue enters his 17th season as the head women's basketball coach in 2024-25.

Donohue has totaled 415 career wins and has led his teams to 10 20-win seasons. Donohue is three wins shy of 300 for his Catholic career, winning 20 or more games seven times as the leader of the Cardinals.

A four-time Landmark Conference Coach of the Year, Donohue has coached 36 all-conference selections, including four Players of the Year, two Defensive Players of the Year and two Rookie of the Year honorees. Three of Donohue's players were named to the Landmark All-Decade Team (2010-2019), the most of any school in the conference. With Donohue at the helm, the program has seen nine all-region selections and seven All-America nods.

Donohue added his fourth career Landmark Coach of the Year honor in 2024 as the Cardinals went on a historic run, finishing 26-3, just one win shy of the all-time program record set in 2012-13. Catholic reached as high as #8 in both the D3hoops and WBCA polls as it won its first 20 contests. Despite falling in the Landmark Conference title game to #7 Scranton, Catholic was selected as an at-large team in the NCAA Tournament, defeating Penn State Behrend before falling in the Second Round to #19 Washington & Lee. Catholic won its second-ever NCAA Tournament contest in 2024 and its first since 2013.

A 1994 graduate of Centenary College, Donohue began his coaching career at North Arlington High School in New Jersey before spending three years at Mt. Olive High School. At North Arlington, he led the team to two conference championships while earning two Coach of the Year honors in four seasons.

Donohue resides in Gambrills, Md., with his wife Laurie, sons Ryan and Brayden, and their daughter Emma.


MEGAN MCLEAN

Catholic women's basketball coach Matt Donohue has set his coaching staff for the 2024-25 season with Megan McLean joining as the Jame L. Roberts Endowed Assistant Coach.

"I am beyond thrilled to welcome Megan to our staff here at Catholic University," said Donohue. "Throughout our search process it became abundantly clear that Megan's knowledge of the game, dedication to her student athletes growth in all capacities, relentless work ethic, and uncanny attention to detail exemplified that Megan is indeed a rising star in the profession! She will undoubtedly help our women continue their pursuit of excellence in all facets of life and we're excited to have Megan taking on this leadership role with the Lady Cards!"

McLean has been named the Jamie L. Roberts Endowed Assistant Coach after serving as an assistant at Maine Maritime since 2019. Maine Maritime won back-to-back conference championships in 2022-23 and 2023-24 with McLean on staff as the program posted an unbeaten record in the NAC in '23-24. Working primarily with the team's guards, McLean helped develop more than 20 All-NAC selections during her time as an assistant.

A four-year player at Maine Maritime before transitioning to a coaching role, McLean was a three-time captain, the Mariners Athletics Female Leader of the Year, and a single-season record holder for free-throw percentage. Starting in 2021, she also held a position in the Athletic Communications office, helping with marketing, game day operations, and website management.


ERIN DIETZ

Also joining the staff for this upcoming season is Erin Dietz, a 2022 graduate of Bridgewater College. A four-year player and team captain for the Eagles, she also served as a Student Assistant Coach with the men's basketball team while completing a minor in Coaching at Bridgewater. Dietz recently coached at John Jay High School serving as an assistant on the varsity staff while taking the reigns as the head coach for the junior varsity team.


AARON KELLY

Head Men's Basketball Coach

Kelly was introduced as the 21st head men's basketball coach at Catholic on April 13, 2019. During his six seasons, Kelly has re-established Catholic as one of the premier division III programs in the nation.

This past season, Kelly guided the Cardinals to the Elite 8 for the first time since 2001, marking just the third time it has been done in Catholic basketball history. The Cardinals finished with a 25-6 record, and Kelly was tabbed region five coach of the year by D3hoops.com.

In 2023-24 the Cardinals finished with a 25-4 record, and won both the regular season and Landmark tournament championship. Kelly was named Landmark coach of the year, as well as NABC region five coach of the year. Catholic ranked as high as #15 in the D3Hoops.com national rankings, and hosted the first weekend of the NCAA national tournament.

In 2023 Catholic secured the best start in program history (21-1), ranked as high as #22 in the D3Hoops.com national rankings, and shared a regular season Landmark championship.

Kelly has mentored fifteen all-conference selections, four all-region selections, and two NABC All-Americans.

A native of Syracuse, NY, Kelly resides in Crofton, MD with his wife, Katie, and two sons, Sean and Jack.


JACK BORS

Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

Bors begins his first season at Catholic in 2022-23 after two years as an assistant coach at Ursinus College.

While at Ursinus, his responsibilities included recruiting, opponent scouting, player skill development and development of game and practice plans. He helped the team reach the Centennial Conference semfinals last season, knocking off Dickinson in the quarterfinals. The Bears also defeated No. 17 Swarthmore, 95-86, in a big road victory.

During his playing career, he featured in 79 games, starting 28, in four years at Bowdoin University. He was a consistent offensive threat, scoring 20 points in a win over Colby his freshman year and surpassed 20 points four times as a sophomore. He also produced a 15-point performance in an iconic win over No. 7 Babson during his junior season. Bors was a team captain during his senior season.

In his two years at Ursinus, he helped mentor to all-conference players, one all-district, one second team all-region and one 1,000 point scorer.
